Whole-Home Organizing.
A More Functional Home. Guaranteed.
When clutter has spread throughout the house, or you're preparing for a major life transition, it can be difficult to know where to begin. That's where whole-home organizing comes in.
Making Room helps you work through your home thoughtfully and systematically, from decluttering and decision-making to creating simple systems that make your space easier to use and maintain.
Whether you're overwhelmed by years of accumulated belongings, preparing for a move, downsizing, setting up your home for a new phase of life, or simply ready for your home to work better for you, we'll create a plan that meets you where you are.
The goal isn't a perfect house. It's a home that supports the way you actually live.
What is Whole Home Organizing?
Whole-home organizing is a comprehensive approach to decluttering and organizing your home. Rather than focusing on one room in isolation, we'll look at your home as a whole and determine what needs to happen, and in what order, to get you where you want to be.
We'll work together to:
Declutter belongings and make thoughtful decisions about what stays and what goes
Create functional homes for the things you use
Establish categories and simple organizing systems
Improve the way you use your existing storage
Identify storage solutions when they're actually needed
Prepare belongings for donation, gifting, disposal, or relocation
Pack belongings when you're preparing for a move
Label boxes and storage areas when helpful
Revisit spaces and refine systems as we learn what works best for you
Every project is different. Your organizing plan will be based on your home, your priorities, your lifestyle, and your goals.
How the Process Works
1. Start With the Big Picture
We'll begin with a walkthrough of your home so I can understand how you're currently using each space, where you're struggling, and what you want to change.
Together, we'll identify priorities and create a plan for tackling the project. If you're working toward a deadline—such as a move—we'll prioritize the areas that need attention first.
You don't have to figure out where to start. That's part of what I'm here for.
2. Declutter & Make Decisions
We'll work through your belongings one area at a time, making thoughtful decisions about what deserves a place in your home.
Depending on your project, items may be sorted into:
Keep
Things that are useful, meaningful, or support the way you want to live.
Donate
Things you no longer need but someone else may be able to use.
Give to Family or Friends
Items you've already decided should go to someone specific.
Trash or Recycle
Things that are no longer usable or appropriate to keep.
Review Later
Items that need a little more thought before you make a final decision.
I'll provide guidance throughout the process, but you remain in control of your belongings and the final decisions.
3. Organize & Create Systems
Once we've determined what you're keeping, we'll figure out where everything should go.
This may include:
Creating functional homes for belongings
Establishing categories and subcategories
Rearranging storage or furniture
Improving accessibility
Making better use of existing storage
Recommending organizing products when they're genuinely useful
Creating simple systems that are realistic to maintain
Labeling shelves, bins, or other areas when appropriate
Packing belongings that need to be moved elsewhere
The goal isn't to create complicated systems that look good for a week.
We're creating systems that make your everyday life easier.
4. Refine the Whole Home
Organizing one room often changes how another room needs to function.
As we work through your home, we'll continue to evaluate how everything fits together. Items set aside earlier may be revisited, and previously organized spaces may be adjusted as we learn more about your habits and storage needs.
This allows us to create a home that feels cohesive rather than a collection of individually organized rooms.
5. Finish With a Final Walkthrough
At the end of your project, we'll walk through the home together and review the systems we've created.
We'll identify anything that still needs attention and discuss ways to maintain the progress you've made.
If additional organizing or maintenance support would be helpful, we'll talk through your options and determine what makes sense next.

A Note About Client Participation
Decluttering is a collaborative process.
I'll help you think through difficult decisions, offer recommendations, and keep the project moving—but I won't decide what you should keep or get rid of without your approval.
You are always the final decision-maker when it comes to your belongings.
Organizing Products & Supplies
You don't need to buy a bunch of bins before we get started.
In fact, I generally recommend waiting until we've decluttered and assessed your space before purchasing organizing products.
If storage or organizing products would improve your system, we'll discuss the options together and get your approval before anything is purchased. Products, packing supplies, storage rentals, and similar expenses are not included in your project estimate unless specifically stated.
What You Can Expect
A successful whole-home organizing project isn't about making your home look like a showroom.
It's about making room for the things that matter—and making the everyday tasks of living in your home a little easier.
You'll leave with:
Less clutter.
Fewer things competing for your attention and space.
More functionality.
Belongings that are easier to find, use, and put away.
Systems that make sense.
Organization designed around your actual habits—not someone else's idea of how your home should work.
A clearer path forward.
Instead of wondering where to start, you'll have a plan for maintaining the progress you've made.
